Lauren Guilfoyle

musculoskeletal, SPORTS & Performance PHYSIOTHERAPIST

(Msc. in Sport & Performance Psychology, Bsc Physiotherapy, MISCP, CORU, Phd (undertaking in IRFU Injury Surveillance )

Lauren is a CORU registered physiotherapist and member of the ISCP. Lauren graduated from the BSc Physiotherapy degree programme at the University of Limerick in 2016. Her time working with injured athletes in team environments spurred a need to upskill to better support these athletes during an often difficult and isolating period, and so she returned to UL in 2020 to complete a Masters in Sport and Performance Psychology. As part of this degree, Lauren worked alongside the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) to investigate the experience of Inter-County GAA players to the COVID-19 Pandemic, a transition similar to that of forced retirement through injury.

After graduating in 2016, she began her career in Sports Physio Ireland in Dublin City, before relocating to Sports Plus in Nenagh, County Tipperary to work in private practice for a number of years. Lauren has worked with a number of team sides including: Tipperary Hurling, Football and Camogie, Ireland Basketball and AIL Div1A side Cork Constitution as Lead Physiotherapist for 3 seasons.

Lauren has a particular interest in treating paediatric and adolescent musculoskeletal injuries, lower limb injuries, and sports related injuries. In addition to Lauren's clinic and team work, she is currently undertaking a PhD supported by the IRFU with a specific focus on injury surveillance and prevention in Senior Cup Schools Rugby. In her spare time, Lauren is a recent Reformer Pilates convert - and enjoys swimming and running. At some point she might be convinced to return to the Camogie pitch or try her hand at rugby.
